From Monday, February 16 to Tuesday, February 17, 2026, we will host a two-day special event themed around art and culture, “Hanazono Niseko Chill Vibes – Winter 2026.”
In addition, from Wednesday, February 18 to Saturday, February 21, an exhibition and sales event will be held featuring works by a craft collective from Asahikawa, Hokkaido—known as a town of wood craftsmanship.
Set against the backdrop of Niseko, one of the world’s premier powder snow resorts, this event offers a diverse program designed for visitors from Japan and abroad to enjoy beyond cultural boundaries.
From traditional Japanese performing arts and contemporary performances to live painting by internationally active artists, as well as the introduction of crafts made from Hokkaido-sourced wood, the event provides immersive experiences that allow guests to engage with local culture through all five senses.
With the concept of “STYLE meets LOCAL,” the event highlights performers and exhibitions connected to Hokkaido, fostering meaningful ties with the region while offering visitors opportunities to discover new and unique local attractions.

As a spectacular prelude to welcoming the Lunar New Year, a powerful stage performance will be presented by Shinkotoni Tenbu Ryuujin, a Yosakoi dance team based in Sapporo.
The evening will also feature a live performance by DJ MAXXXINE, a highly regarded DJ from Hokkaido with a broad and loyal following.
A special collaborative performance between the Yosakoi team and the DJ is also planned.

Shinkotoni Tenbu Ryuujin
A Yosakoi dance team based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Known for their distinctive style that blends traditional rhythms with modern dance expressions, the team is especially acclaimed for their wave-like group formations and vibrant costumes inspired by Hokkaido’s natural landscapes and changing seasons. Their performances convey a dynamic energy unique to snowy regions. Winners of numerous awards including the YOSAKOI Soran Festival Grand Prize and Judges’ Special Award, they have earned high recognition both in Japan and internationally.
DJ MAXXXINE
A popular DJ and performer from Sapporo, Hokkaido. Centered on HIP-HOP and R&B, DJ MAXXXINE captivates audiences with versatile mixes ranging from old-school classics to the latest trap sounds. Based in Sapporo, she performs at clubs and music events across Japan, and also serves as a stadium DJ for the Levanga Hokkaido basketball team and the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball team. In addition to her work as a radio DJ and event MC, she is widely supported as one of Hokkaido’s most exciting homegrown DJs.
Live Art & Music Session in Niseko
Internationally active artist Daisuke Sekai will create a live art painting inspired by his experiences in Niseko.
Joining him in performance is Yuto Kanno, a Tsugaru shamisen virtuoso from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, who has won top national awards. Together, they will deliver a unique live session where art and music come together.
During the event period, works by Daisuke Sekai will also be on display and available for purchase.

Performer Profiles
Daisuke Sekai
An artist and painter whose work is guided by the concept of “Living Life as Art.” He moved to the UK at age 18 and has since worked in major cities across roughly 40 countries, including Paris, New York, London, and Tokyo. His collaborations include corporate projects at venues such as Marunouchi Cotton Club and HAPPO-EN in Shirokanedai. He has held solo exhibitions nationwide and garnered attention for Japan’s largest live painting event, “Breaking Boundaries to Connect.”
Yuto Kanno
Born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, into a family of Tsugaru shamisen musicians. He has been immersed in shamisen and folk music since childhood. Starting formal training in the fifth grade, he quickly rose through the ranks, winning national competitions in the junior division and later claiming first place in the A-class male division. He performs solo, in multigenerational ensembles, and in collaborations with other instruments both in Japan and abroad. Yuto has won numerous national competitions, achieving seven crowns, while continuing to preserve tradition, explore modern approaches, and mentor the next generation.
Shishimai (Lion Dance) Performance by Ranbyoshi
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, a performance by the lion dance troupe Ranbyoshi from Sapporo will offer visitors a traditional Japanese cultural experience.
It is said that if the lion bites your head, it wards off bad luck and misfortune, and brings good health and fortune. For children, it is believed to help them grow up healthy and wise.

A lion dance team based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. They captivate audiences with performances rooted in traditional lion dance forms, enhanced by powerful drumming and dynamic movement. With their own unique staging, the troupe combines energetic choreography, vibrant costumes, and rhythmic calls, bringing excitement and vitality to festivals and events. They have performed at domestic and international events, earning high praise for preserving and presenting Hokkaido’s traditional culture in a modern context.
Over four days, the exhibition and sale of wood art and crafts, hosted by the Asahikawa Wooden Goods Association, will be held.
Visitors can browse and handle a wide variety of original wooden creations from nine companies based in Asahikawa, a city renowned for its woodworking tradition. Many items are available for purchase, giving you the chance to take home a piece of Hokkaido craftsmanship.
This is a unique opportunity to experience the warmth and quality of Hokkaido’s wooden crafts firsthand. Everyone is welcome to drop by!
